Misterton Women’s Institute

(Registered Charity No: 228257)

Misterton Women’s Institute was started in 1920 and we currently meet at ‘The Globe’ Public House, Middle Street, Misterton on the first Tuesday of each month.

Our Meetings start at 7 p.m. with a speaker, followed by any current W.I. business and concluding with refreshments. Members can enjoy a drink from the bar during the meeting if they wish, and special occasions usually mean a buffet and cake too. In the summer we often hold meetings in conjunction with outings to local places of special interest. Members can choose if they have a particular place they would like to visit, which we will try to incorporate into our programme. Our speaker secretaries work hard to provide a real variety of subjects.  Our ladies also enjoy many benefits by being a member – bursaries, practical demonstrations, educational outings and more.

We are a busy group who like to socialise and enjoy informal coffee mornings, sometimes at a member’s home, other times at Mallabones our local coffee shop, and formerly the W.I. Hall! We also have lunches out, a garden party, picnics, theatre trips, line dancing and more. A recent addition to our W.I.  is the formation of a craft club which has introduced members to new skills they never knew they had.

New ideas are always welcome as are new members.  We also have contact with other W.I.s and support their events, such as outings, film nights, quizzes, golf croquet and walks around their villages.

Ladies are very welcome to visit our meetings at the Globe to socialise and hear our Speakers.

So Ladies….give us a try! For any further information please contact Judy on 01460 78931, Jan on 01460 77599 jancd136@hotmail.com or our Secretary Jane Jarrett on 07970 988383 for any further details.
